I’m about 3/4 of the way through 1984 and I cannot believe that I waited this long to re-read it. This book was published over 50 years ago and remains as relevant today as it was back then (even more so in my opinion). How does this quote from the book fit when analyzed against 2013?

PJ: I’m still trying to figure out how most of these people represent us? How could a person who has been in office for say….10 to 20 years and who maintains a net worth in the multi-millions possibly represent the average American?
When Citizen Vigilantes Busted Food Hoarders
PJ: What happens when your neighbors get jealous and decide to “inform on you.” In another collapse I could definitely see this happening as food supplies run short.
