What do you think of this tip from Clabert Menard: “Here is a tip for a multi tool. Find any old flat file. You can put it in a vise and snap it in two for a handier tool and make two. Now grind the teeth off one edge, quenching in water to keep it cool. Once smooth, stop. Now clean any sharp edges off broken end. What you now have is a high carbon striker which you use with a piece of sharp flint, to make fire and still have a file to keep axe and machete sharp.”
Commenter 1: “That should throw some good sparks going try that today !!!”
Commenter 2: “I carry three of these fire kits in my 18th century gear and I have one in my BOB and each vehicle. It will work, when all others fail.”
