God and Guns Podcast

Episode 008 – Targets: “To shoot or not to shoot. That is the question.”

Intro:

Welcome back to the God and Guns Podcast. My name’s Mike, your host, (Zack) And I’m Zack, your other host.

Zack and I use this podcast to talk about God, guns, and the responsible Christian gun owners interests.

Today we’ll be talking about targets.

And joining us in the studio for the show today is my father, Joe.

Comedy Corner:

-Chuck Norris can make a polygraph test lie.

-Chuck Norris has already been to mars, that’s why there are no signs of life.

-Chuck Norris and Superman once fought each other on a bet. The loser had to start wearing his underwear on the outside of his pants.

Midsouth Shooters giveaway…end of show.

Shout out to 22Plinkster!

-He attempted the trick shot I suggested to him when he was on the show. Check out his YouTube channel at http://www.youtube.com/user/22plinkster

-The best shot I’ve seen from him is the 2 swinging ornaments.

Listener Email:

-James says – “I found your show by accident on Monday 2/25. I have just finished listening to every episode available. Keep up the good work. I recently bought a Ruger SR22P for my wife as her self defense gun. .22 is not a powerful round but often just presenting a firearm can diffuse a situation and she can operate it easily in spite of her arthritis.”

-Richard say – “Hey guys, I’m sorry that I can’t figure out how to write a review on my PC instead of iTunes. I just didn’t want to write a “long” comment with my thumbs on the iPhone. I gave you 3-stars only because you are still “amateurs” and sound like it. That’s not intended as a hard criticism, just recognition of your skills evident and clearly stated by you on your first podcast. That way I can improve my ratings with time. I enjoy your podcast and you are getting better at your skill with each show. I’m thankful that you’ve gotten 2 microphones now, so that you and Zak can be heard equally. Now you need a third for your guests. I’ve listened to all six podcasts to date and look forward to more. One note on your biblical references. They have been good and inspiring. I’d even appreciate more and greater discourses on the subjects. You’ve inspired me to begin preparation for some sort of “Armed Men’s Class” that I am considering teaching. It would be designed for those men of the congregation who are currently armed (carrying), and for others who may or may not have considered it but who were willing to hear the discussion in a biblical context. I just hadn’t read the Bible with justification for being armed on my mind before, but will be doing so now.

Thanks again for the enjoyable show. Keep polishing your skills and I’ll rate you higher some time in the future.

Weekly Bible Verse:

-Proverbs 30:7-9 – “Two things I ask of you, Lord; do not refuse me before I die. Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, ‘Who is the Lord?’ Or I may become poor and steal,

and so dishonor the name of my God.

-Are there ethical issues associated with shooting life like targets?

-How real should they be?

-They prepare us for a situation that could happen.

-As Christians we should not harbor hatred towards what is personified on the target. (Like a terrorist picture)

-Matthew 5:43-48- “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”(NIV)
