Cameron Davis asks: “I live in the suburbs of Virginia, and bugging out immediately might not be the best idea. The news of a disaster might move slower than expected and evac routes will certainly be a bottle neck. What suggestions would you give if I chose to hunker down rather than bugging out?”
Commenter 1: “Network with your neighbors, pool resources and stockpile food, ammo, medical supplies and water.”
Commenter 2: “What you do is get a double barreled shotgun and go out on your balcony and fire off two blasts….”
Commenter 3: “It all depends on the nature of the event. Standard stuff: Food, water, heat, light, communications, first aid, sanitation and self-defense. Be prepared to evac on foot if necessary. Have a destination, a primary route and a backup route or two. Be fluid and flexible. Keep calm. Lead if necessary, follow if necessary, and THINK at all times.”
