Listener Feedback:
J.D. – I love my Saiga 12… but the 3 Gun guy you talked to was right… I’m in it for about 1,700$ It is my favorite gun because I did all the work on it. Converted it from sporting to tactical myself. It took some tuning and polishing of the bolt and bolt carrier group… but now she runs like a champ. I attached a pic of it.
I do have a Mossberg 500 12ga for my wife. The kick was too much for her in the beginning. So what do I do? I put a 275 dollar Mesa Tactical Recoil Stock kit on a 300 dollar gun. My wife can now shoot it without a problem. The recoil system claims to reduce recoil by 70%… I’m not sure about that number… but it is comfortable to shoot.
I listen to pretty much everything the Firearms radio network puts out… Thanks for doing what you do.
Bernie Kowalski, Arvada, Colorado – Would you consider doing a small segment on hearing protection? There are a lot of options these days. Each has its pros and cons, so it’s hard to make a decision on what to go with. Also, what do the decibel ratings mean? 26db means it reduces a noise by 26 decibels, or everything is reduced to 26 decibels?
My comment: ammo is expensive and in short supply. If you were to ask me what gun is my current favorite, I’d say its my pellet rifle. Pellet rifles are not just kids’ wimpy little toys. They are serious target rifles. If you’re not familiar with them, you’d be amazed how much “recoil” a spring-loaded rifle has (instead of CO2). It’s not the kind of recoil that will make your shoulder sore after 100 rounds, but the amount of movement as the spring kicks out, then stops. Your first shot will startle the heck out of you! My point is that you can get serious trigger control, shooting stance, and follow-through training for a penny or two a shot. I also get to shoot in my garage, so there’s no travel time or expense factored into my shooting time. Maybe this topic might be of interest to you and your listeners.
Sam – Hey I have been listening to your show for a few months now and really enjoy it. I am wondering about getting a scope for my mini-14 tactical rifle in .223/5.56, and am wondering what you would suggest for target shooting or varmint hunting from 50-200 yards. I am looking for a quality scope on a budget. Also I think that the longer the shows are the better they really make time go by at work.
