The plant we posted an hour ago is stinging nettles (Urtica dioica)! While the adult stems of this plant carry some wicked stingers, the young leaves are a very taste pot herb; cooking and trying neutralize the stingers. They can also be dried and are an excellent source of essential vitamins and minerals. A tea made from nettles is thought to be anti-dandruff, and the plant has other medicinal, diuretic, astringent qualities. You can also make cordage from the stems. Please share from Camping Survival.
Commenter 1: “The adult stems are also good for making cordage, a well made nettle string cord can be used for bow drill fire lighting, I’ve also made fishing line from it.”
Commenter 2: “They are also anti-arthritis. If you take the stems and intentionally sting yourself the effect is similar to bee sting therapy.”
Commenter 3: “I was just out back wondering what this foliage was, similar to wild strawberry until you get close and feel it.”
Commenter 4: “Thanks for doing these plant series, I love them!”
