Recently I ran across a deal that I couldn’t refuse on a Mossberg JM Pro 930 semi-automatic shotgun. The only problem is that it’s a little light on capacity. With only 9 rounds in the tubular magazine and 1 in the chamber, this shotgun is limited to a measly 10 shots.
And there are times when 10 rounds of 12 gauge isn’t enough. For example…
Of course there are other less realistic scenarios where you might want to carry extra shotgun shells. Like home defense or 3 gun competition. Or maybe you’re a really, really bad skeet shooter.
For those scenarios, you might want to check out the Mesa Tactical SureShell Shotshell Side Saddle Carriers. Add a “by the seashore” to that and you’ve got a proven tongue twister.
Mesa Tactical SureShell Shotshell Side Saddle Carrier on a Mossberg JM Pro 930
The Mesa Tactical SureShell Shotshell Carrier is designed to mount to your shotgun receiver or stock and carry from 4 to 8 extra shot shells. Models are available for numerous shotguns including:
Remington 870, 1100, 11087
Mossberg 500, 590, 930
Benelli M1, M2, Super Nova, M4, M1014
There are a lot of variables, so be sure to check the Mesa Tactical web site for details.
10 is plenty under any scenario once you unleash 00 buck shot to sweep the porch clean of any enemy foreign or domestic.
10 is not enough when 20 men are coming for your prepper supplies.
Candy bar action 12 guage pistol with hi-cap-mag could be fun
Shooting from each porch is wasteful of ammo. Firing a shot from one would be plenty to send most ne’er do wells running. If they are determined, and armed, you shouldn’t really be exposed on the porch in the first place.
Just the chunk-chunk sound of a round being chambered in a simple Remington 870 is enough to send most burglers headed the other direction.
You don’t get trigger happy when you have the most POWERFUL personal weapon as described by Ayoob in your hands, IDIOT!
One shot is equivalent to 30 rounds of 9mm as recent test show.
Why no mention of the Remington 877 shotgun. That is one mean looking shotgun and the best looking out there.
lets do it ~ you know the drill……
what? 00 sucks…..use number 4 ~ 4,4,4,00,00
no….#4 sucks!
A lighter and a can of hairspray = blowtorch
Wasp spray is always good, too. It’ll shoot about 20 feet.
Screw shotguns. Heckler Koch HK45 with 230gr jhp +p’s with a light on the accessory rail.
Well Lets See,12 Gauge Isnt enough?,A couple of Molotov Cocktails,Smoke Bombs,Improvised Traps, and use

Warfare when TSHTF comes around.
I suppose I would feel more comfortable with an M1A and a half dozen extra 20 round mags, but I don’t plan on taking on the US army all by myself. For home defense I wouldn’t feel all that bad with a 12 guage pump. Of course I would want a few of those nylon 20 round ammo belts full of rifled slugs to use after I fired off the first 5 blasts; I prefer them to 00 buckshot; they make me aim more carefully.
yep,
stupid stuff really, … just shows that nobody knows..
take a shotgun, and put say 10 00-buck shells in said gun, each shell has say a dozen 9mm ball bearings, a smart guy with a pump can knock that off in a few seconds, … that is 100′s of 9′mm rounds going somewhere, … the terminal destruction is awesome.
On the other place in some ‘slugs’ and you got a hunk of lead ( 1″ ball ) that will kill anything at close distance, …
NOPE, … I think its pretty clear to anybody that knows guns that a trained man, with a pump mossberg 500 series with 00-buck loaded, and maybe 6 ‘slugs’ on the stock awaiting is one awesome machine,
There really isn’t another weapon to take to a battle, maybe a sniper gun out at 500+ meters, … or maybe a handgun for ‘concealment’, … but for real world action from 5 feet to 50 feet a shotgun wins.
Once your under 5 feet then you better know how to use a knife, or know how to fight, out from 100 yards to a mile, it wouldn’t be bad to have a 50 calibre barret with a scope,…
I think for survival, and general work, a shotgun is the baddest weapon around
I believe the flame thrower is the most deadly CQC weapon. It was absolutely devastating against the Tojos during WWII. You could easily take out a whole squad in one blast with one. Stop, drop, and roll isn’t going to help you much when your lungs are fried. Unfortunately we don’t live in a free country anymore so good luck with that.
The best shotshell carriers are made of leather, and lace, on a wooden stock. The lead closer to the end of the gun, could aid as a skull crusher and door opener.
