There is much discussion about the BEST survival firearms. The truth is that there is no one ‘best’ firearm. If there were, there would only be that one firearm. There’s a reason we have thousands to choose from. You have to pick the best for yourself and your survival situation. If you are up in the arctic circle. there’s very little chance that a .22lr is going to do much against a hungry or angry polar bear. Maybe you’ll get him right in the eye from 5 feet away and drop him, but realistically, probably not. Or maybe you’re out in the desert and the biggest prey you can find are lizards. There’s probably no point in shooting it with a .308 if you want anything left of it to eat.
The long and short of it is that you need to decide what is best for you for where you are, what you think you’ll be using it for and what you can handle. For example, I have a 12 gauge shotgun that is chambered in 3.5″. I haven’t found a load yet that I can’t shoot and get on target with that gun. That being said, my friends sister is barely 100 pounds dripping wet. Would she benefit from a gun she probably couldn’t use? I’ve decided that my best two options are my 12 gauge and my .22lr semi auto, and if I could only grab two, those would be the ones. It might be different for you, very different.
This is why The Survivalist Blog has compiled a number of articles discussing what the best survival gun is. I highly recommend reading through them. You’ll learn more about how to select something, use it and what works best for you.
