One-Handed Desert Eagle .44 Mag

Last weekend, I had the opportunity to go to a Wounded Warrior Project Shoot. I brought a couple of things to shoot (including my Desert Eagle being shot above) and everyone that was running the event brought everything they had. The Wounded Warrior Project was pretty awesome. They bought thousands of rounds for the local warriors to come out and shoot (and even let me shoot a little). There were 20 or 30 wounded warriors and their families with different varieties of injuries.

The warriors even got to have a shoot-out event. Man-on-Man with any AR rifle on the rack (there were about 10 to choose from), shoot four clay pigeons and then a steel stop plate at about 50 yards. Even the best of the best forgets mechanical off-set from time to time, so it was fun to watch the warriors use Kentucky Windage to hit the clay pigeons. It’s with great pride that I get to announce the winner used my varmint rifle (pictured above) to win. Nice to see my rifle was appreciated.

After the shoot, I stuck around to train with a couple of the guys, one still an active PJ in the Air Force. What a great time. If you ever get the chance, look at helping out at one of these events. Even if you are just a target go-for, I think you’ll have a great time.

At the end, I did get a chance to talk with a couple of the guys that are employed by the Wounded Warrior Project and learned that the Organization is not anti-gun and that there were some other political things going on that made them look anti-gun on Tom Gresham’s Gun Talk Radio program this last November. I’m not sure if I can share those so I won’t since it’s not public knowledge. But I can tell you that the guys on the ground doing the work for the Wounded Warrior Project are not anti-gun and most seem to be avid shooters. And they don’t just hunt. One of the employees (a wounded warrior himself) brought this and let everyone (including me) shoot it.
