In what sounds like a scene from the movie jaws, a newbie kyacker named Kelly Janse van Rensburg , was out fishing a half mile from shore in his kyack when the nightmare began. He saw a 12 foot Great White shark 300 meters away, torpedo charging and then disappeared momentarely. Then the shark swam up and rammed into him, the sharks enormous jaws and teeth were crushing through into the plastic, leaving teeth marks behind on the back of his kyack, the shark spun him around 90 degrees then letting go of him.
timeslive.co.za - The bunking sales rep was fishing 800m off Yellow Sands point near East London on Thursday. The shark‚ which was as long as his new 4m “Mozam” kayak‚ torpedo-charged from 300m and vanished.
“It went down‚ my heart rate went up‚” he said.
Moments later‚ it struck from below and “mouthed” the craft‚ leaving a 3mm-deep tattoo of toothmarks in the plastic.
“It pulled me around about 90 degrees and let go. Then it did a figure-of-eight before coming right next to me. I banged it on the head with my paddle. It reacted as if it was getting its back scratched.”
“I was so freaked out. It probably knew I was a newbie‚” said the relieved father.
“It harassed me for about an hour‚ swimming in circles‚ and then buggered off. My nerves were wrecked.”
Aim for its eyeballs with your paddle.
