New Berlin, Wis. –(Ammoland.com)- River otters and humans share few, if any, of the same physical traits. A fact Remi Warren, host of Sportsman Channel’s original series Apex Predator, must learn to overcome. Warren will attempt to adapt to the underwater lifestyle while spearfishing for amberjacks in Florida waters – as an otter. Warren dives into the season finale of Apex Predator Thursday, May 14 at 8 p.m. ET/PT exclusively on Sportsman Channel.

North American River Otters know the ropes of underwater hunting. With webbed feet, streamlined bodies, and ability to hold their breath for up to eight minutes, they are highly-successful predators. Warren does not share any physical traits with the animal, so he must train to adapt. The host meets with experts to learn the ways of the otter and how to best conserve energy as an underwater hunter. He then puts his newfound knowledge to the test, on a journey below sea level to spear an amberjack off the Gulf Coast of Florida.

“I never thought I’d be able to hold my breath for as long as I did,” marveled Warren. “After I got up from the water, I felt that I could have stayed under for another minute or so. But this just gives me a starting point – something to go off of. Overall, I felt like I became the otter, but this is something I will continue to practice.”
