Covington VA –-(Ammoland.com)- No, this is not an April Fool’s joke. Another infringement is in the works.

Amherst County is considering an ordinance that would create new shooting restrictions throughout the county!

The ordinance would prohibit outdoor shooting on or along any public road and a ***100-yard buffer around any residence or public gathering place that is not the shooter’s own dwelling.*** The proposal also restricts shooting across someone else’s property, unless permission has been given.

The County already allows people to ask for restrictions on a case-by-case basis. This is a huge overreach, especially in such a rural county!

The hearing is THIS TUESDAY, October 20th 2015, at 7 PM.

It is being held at:

School Board Meeting Room
153 Washington St.
Amherst, VA 24521

(NOTE: School Board rooms or buildings are NOT normally considered “schools”, so I expect carry to be legal, but I am verifying.)

If you live in Amherst or are otherwise affected by this proposed ordinance, you need to show up for the meeting.

I am planning on being there and will have some Guns Save Lives stickers for those attending to wear.

I’m hoping a good turnout by our side will nip this in the bud.

Here is an article on this. Board of Supervisors member Claudia Tucker is on the side of gun owners:
