Pirated Music future of downloads – NSA spies with Xbox
Could it be that the music industry is fighting back or is it just a coincidence? According to IsItDownRightNow, the named Pirate Bay went out of service just after 1 a.m. Pacific time. Although the site was back up after about 4 hours there have been other outages. According to IsItDownRightNow, which monitors the site at least every four hours, reported that The Pirate Bay was not responsive on at least four of those check-ins.
You may remember that Pirate Bay which once tried to purchase its own island to setup a sovereign nation where copyright laws need not apply for residency — has been experiencing lots of downtime recently. Additionally one of the site’s co-founders has just been ordered to spend another month in a Danish jail.
Outages of the Pirate Bay, which is normally known for beating back most attacks, began experiencing increasing attacks about two weeks ago and they seem to be continuing. There are speculations that law enforcement may have a hand in making things difficult for the site but could it also involve the music industry itself? Well there really is no way to know for sure but certainly they are the most injured by the sites existence.
The site’s co-founder, Gottfrid Svartholm Warg, has had his stay in a Danish jail extended by a court there in recent days. The court said that if he were released in advance of facing charges related to a 2012 hacking case of systems run by Computer Sciences Corporation, there remains a risk that he could destroy evidence.
It seems that in these times of uncertainty that wars for music, governments, money and more are fought on a much different front, a cyber world that only few people really understand. We live in a world where a 12 year old kid can hack government web sites to get videos games is a world that we should all fear.
What if this kid decided he wanted to play a video game that would enable him to blow up an entire country? The only problem with this scenario is that with the the access to government sites this may be possible. It is scary and eye opening to see that a little kid has more computer intelligence than does our own government. I’t so hard to understand this changing world where PHD’s that run our security are no smarter than a “gamer kid”.
Who really know who is watching you now or stealing your personal information such as credit cards. We all heard of the Target scandal that compromised millions of its customers information. Sure Target told us able this but do you really believe they were the only big company that was hit by this? I think not but we will really never know because most companies will never tell us.
How about that Xbox in your house? Is it spying on you? There have been reports (largely disputed by Microsoft) that the NSA can tap into your Xbox and watch, listen and record your every movement.
What do we do as a people of a supposed peaceful nation? How do we protect our selves from a menacing crazy kid or dictator? I really don’t know the answer but I’m sure you are like me and have concerns that we essentially have no control over. What do you think should be done? Leave you comments below.
