St. Paul, MN -(AmmoLand.com)- Minneapolis-based specialty outdoor retailer Gander Mountain announced today that it has entered into a partnership with the National Rifle Association (NRA) and will begin offering customers the opportunity to purchase NRA memberships at Gander Mountain stores in Minnesota, Wisconsin and North Dakota with a national roll out in September 2016.

The partnership will feature marketing and promotional collaborations including direct mail and special in-store “NRA Weekend” events. Kicking off this week, customers will be able to purchase a one-year NRA membership for $30 (regularly priced at $40) and receive a free $10 Gander Mountain gift card toward their next purchase.

“We are proud to support the shooting sports industry through our partnership with the NRA and are committed to providing responsible citizens with access to firearms and educational programs that promote proper use, care, safety and security through our on-going ‘With Rights Comes Responsibility’ campaign,” said Derek Siddons, Gander Mountain’s President. “The right to own and use firearms comes with a responsibility to be educated and safe. With safety being our number one priority with firearms, we’re proud to have provided over 250,000 training sessions to our customers through our six Gander Mountain Academy locations since its founding in 2011.”

Starting today, customers will be able to purchase discounted NRA memberships at select Gander Mountain stores across the country.  When customers activate their new NRA membership card they’ll receive a monthly NRA magazine, membership card to cash in on exclusive discounts and offers, NRA decal, up to $2,500 worth of insurance, and a free $10 Gander Mountain gift card by mail along with their NRA membership materials.

“The NRA is thrilled to be partnering with one of America’s premier shooting sports destinations, Gander Mountain. Gander Mountain is committed to protecting our Second Amendment rights and to firearms safety and training. One of the main goals of this partnership is to build on existing educational and firearms safety programs,” said Wayne LaPierre, National Rifle Association’s Executive Vice President.

The phased rollout of NRA memberships will include 26 store locations throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin and North Dakota starting this week and will expand to all 163 locations by September, kicking-off during the first Gander Mountain NRA Weekend event that will feature special presentations, offers, educational classes and giveaways.
