USA -(Ammoland.com)- As expected, yesterday HF238 – the Defense of Dwelling & Person Act (also known as Stand your Ground), authored by Rep. Jim Nash, passed out of the House Public Safety Committee on a 9-6 vote.

Representatives voting in favor of the bill were: Cornish, Johnson, Grossell, Howe, Lohmer, Lucero, Newberger, O’Neill, and Zerwas.

Representatives voting against the bill were: Hilstrom, Becker-Finn, Considine, Dehn, Franke, and Ward.

Rep. Pinto was absent at the time of the vote, but would have voted against.

Our thanks to everyone to showed up, called, sent e-mails, and visited their Representatives, members of the committee, and House Leadership.

WHAT’S NEXT?

The bill will move to the House Rules Committee for a required waiver of the rules before moving to the House floor for debate & a vote to pass the legislation. We’re unsure of the timing at this time.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

E-Mail Representative Tony Cornish: Thank him for bringing HF238 forward for a vote in the House Public Safety and Security Policy & Finance Committee. You can contact him at [email protected].

Contact your Representative: Call, then follow-up with a brief e-mail. Let them know that you support HF238 and want to see it passed when it comes to the house floor.

We’ll have more specific actions for you to take once we have a timeline for when the bill will go before the Rules Committee for the next steps.
