Florida – -(Ammoland.com)- Once again, with regard to open carry and campus carry, Gov. Rick Scott is silent.

I suppose that’s what a leader does on important issues. Just keep quiet and see what happens. It’s only a matter of life and death for the citizens of Florida to be able to defend themselves from criminals, crazies, and terrorists, so no big deal, right?

I guarantee you, if I were Florida’s Governor, I’d be on TV giving press conferences telling the Legislature to get with it and send me a non-watered down bill that states citizens have the right to carry openly anywhere they can legally carry concealed.

And to send me a bill legalizing K-12 and college campus carry for all licensed carriers.

Actually, since this is my fantasy scenario I’d go further than that, and demand that all off-limits places be crossed off the list of prohibited places for weapons carry, except for jails, prisons, and dedicated mental institutions that have metal detectors and armed guards.

And, I’d demand that the license requirement be removed. Criminals don’t apply for a license to carry. It’s time we removed that burden of time and money from good citizens so that they can naturally exercise their God-given right of self-defense as guaranteed by the Second Amendment without paying a poll tax and getting government permission first.

But I have to keep a least somewhat realistic goal, since Gov. Scott may not cherish liberty as much as I do.

So on to what could really happen:

I’d call Senate President Joe Negron into my office and say the following:

“Good morning, Joe. You know what happened last year with Diaz de la Portilla blocking open carry and campus carry, and how then Senate President Andy Gardiner didn’t lift a finger to do anything about it, though he had the authority to get the bills onto the Senate floor?

Well, don’t be a Gardiner and let Senator Anitere Flores be another bill killer like Portilla was. Pull the bills from committee and get them an honest vote in the full Senate.

Trust me, the heat from timid RINOs who would rather not take a public vote on pro-liberty self-defense bills will be a lot less than the heat that follows letting a turncoat once again torpedo good bills that would benefit Florida’s citizens. Especially when you don’t have to let it happen.

Joe, do you really want to be linked at the hip with her?”

So, why hasn’t Gov. Scott found his voice? What ails him? He certainly shows he can speak up about other bills that concern him. Contact him and ask him: [email protected] (850) 488-7146.
