USA -(Ammoland.com)- During yesterday’s hearing of the Texas House Committee on Homeland Security & Public Safety, Texas State Representative Jonathan Stickland stated that House Bill 375, his “constitutional carry” bill, would allow any person age 18 or above who is not statutorily prohibited from owning a firearm to carry a concealed handgun on a Texas public college campus.

Unless Rep. Stickland’s committee substitute to his bill amends Texas Penal Code Section 46.03(a)(1) or (a)(1)(B), something that neither the originally filed bill nor the committee substitutes posted to various gun-rights websites would do, Students for Concealed Carry sees no way that HB 375 would impact either the licensing or age requirements of Texas’s current campus carry law.

About Students For Concealed Carry:

Students for Concealed Carry (SCC) is a national, non-partisan, grassroots organization comprising college students, faculty, staff, and concerned citizens who believe that holders of state-issued concealed handgun licenses should be allowed the same measure of personal protection on college campuses that current laws afford them virtually everywhere else. SCC is not affiliated with the NRA or any other organization.
