USA -(Ammoland.com)- Dear TSRA Members, Family and Friends:

Sorry if you missed TSRA’s Annual Meeting last Saturday at the Austin Marriott North Hotel in Round Rock. TSRA members were delighted to hear from the brightest and best legal minds in Texas.

Congressman “Judge” Carter welcomed TSRA members to Round Rock, his congressional district and led the posting of the colors, followed by reports from TSRA officers.

Justice David Schenck, a member of the 5th Court of Appeals and a TSRA member, was acknowledged from the audience. Sheck has been called “almost too qualified” for his job by a Democratic opponent. If his name is familiar, it should be, Schenck wrote an amicus brief on behalf of forty state rifle and pistol associations, urging the Supreme Court to confirm an individual’s right under the Second Amendment. Heller v District of Columbia

Justice Schenck introduced his guest, Justice David Bridges who also serves on the 5th Court.

Then it was Senior U.S. Senator John Cornyn’s turn to speak on the need to protect all the amendments to the Bill of Rights, particularly the first and the second. Today Senator Cornyn filed Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act.

Next on the agenda was Senator Brian Birdwell (R-Granbury) who received the Doc Brown Legislator of the Year award for finally passing SB 11, CHL on Campus, personal protection for students, faculty and staff on college campuses. The issue took 8 years, 4 session, two sets of bill authors and was finally completed with help from Lt. Governor Dan Patrick, and House member Allen Fletch, but mostly by the heroics and the hard work of Senator Brian Birdwell.

Before lunch we heard from our guest speaker, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton who explained the Office of Attorney General and his 800 lawyers. Their main responsibility is to sue and/or protect the State of Texas. Wonderful information.

Then it was lunch time and one would think we were through but wait there’s more!

U.S. Senator Ted Cruz dropped by for lunch and spoke to a sell out audience about must-do issues our country will continue to work-on until completed. A handful of protestors didn’t dampen the luncheon. What’s politics these days without protestors protesting something?

Below you’ll find one of the many auction items offered on Friday during the TSRA Foundation Banquet and Auction.

Texas Ag Commissioner Sid Miller wasn’t able to attend but donated a guitar autographed by Ted Nugent which brought big bucks for Texas youth shooting sports and safety programs across the state. Ted Nugent Signed Guitar donated to TSRA Foundation by Ag Com. Sid Miller.

Thank you, Sid.

Thank you for maintaining and upgrading your TSRA membership. I need your help now and all during session. Also thank you for sending funds for the PAC, we’re rebuilding for the next election cycle.

TSRA is YOUR Second Amendment gun rights association in Texas.

And as always,
Keep the faith.
