U.S.A.-(Ammoland.com)- World Archery and the Archery Trade Association have formalized an agreement to collaborate on shared goals in the lead-up to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Ahead of the fourth stage of the 2016/17 Indoor Archery World Cup in Las Vegas, USA, the ATA and World Archery have signed a commitment to working together to promote archery around the world.

The two organizations have already collaborated on projects, including the production of an internet video series aiming at explaining archery to the public, sharing articles and images via their respective online platforms, international market research, and outreach with members.

Formalizing the cooperation in the lead-up to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games is an indication of the two organizations’ shared vision for a world in which everyone has the opportunity to make archery their activity of choice in the communities where they live.

The ATA and World Archery will identify areas in which projects overlap and where resources and expertise can be shared to better achieve common goals, especially in areas of awareness and grassroots development. They will also work together on studies of potential key markets and public perceptions of the sport, helping members to understand the changing landscapes of the archery industry.

The Archery Trade Association, which was founded in 1953, represents the interests of manufacturers, distributors, retailers, sales representatives and others working in the archery industry, and organizes the annual ATA Trade Show, the world’s largest archery and bowhunting trade show.

World Archery is the international federation for the important Olympic sport of archery and is responsible for promoting the sport, regulating international rules and organizing World Archery Championships, the Hyundai Archery World Cup and coordinating the sport at the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

World Archery Secretary General Tom Dielen said: “The ATA and World Archery have been collaborating on projects for a number of years. This MOU formalizes our commitment to continue that relationship, working together for the betterment of archery – and through shared expertise, better approaching the challenges and opportunities we, as a community, face.”

ATA President and CEO Jay McAninch agreed: “With evidence of strong growth in recreational archery, this partnership is essential for sharing resources and helping to grow archery’s global footprint. ATA’s industry members will benefit from increased archery awareness and participation, and the market research data we’ll be able to gather in partnership with World Archery. Developing global markets is a critical aspect of the future growth of archery and bowhunting.”
