(Before It's News)

As a journalist covering business, I couldn’t help but notice that almost every type of business has started describing itself as a “solution provider.”

I don’t remember the exact date, but around 10 years ago, I realized this term had jumped the shark when I saw a plumbing company along the highway describe itself as a “solution provider.”

Even before this, however, I had already started replacing the word “solution” with “service” in stories, annoying numerous spokespersons along the way. Editors, though, never seemed to mind.

Also, throughout my 20-year career in the media, I have discovered that I’m one of those annoying people who incessantly uncover all the problems.

Therefore, in hopes of coining a new phrase and maybe picking up some consulting business as well, I want to be your “problem provider.”  Don’t miss understand me. I don’t want to cause you or your business any actual problems. Rather, I would like to help you avoid any unneeded pain and misery.

Where am I going with this? Well, I admit it. I have buried the lead, a big no-no in the news business.

Therefore, here’s my nut graph: In addition to providing my services as a freelance journalist and developing news sites for my media business B.R. Hook, I am also now offering consulting services.

While my story count will likely drop, my knack for uncovering problems will hopefully be helpful.

Whether you need a news event covered, customized content, a speaker to talk about the latest trends within a specific industry, or someone to help provide your business or organization with specialized research, I will work along with you to customize services to meet your unique needs.

Feel free to contact me anytime. I’m ready, willing and able to be your “problem provider.”
