True Eagle Forum

Dear Eagles,
Eagle Forum values the support given by many of you over the course of multiple decades. Because Eagle Forum’s successful network of grassroots conservatives is due in large part to donations from its supporters, ensuring that donors’ money goes exactly where it is intended is of paramount importance. This task has recently become more complicated because, within the last year, certain individuals and entities have employed intentionally confusing terminology (to describe their titles or their organizations) which suggest that Eagle Forum is involved with events, individuals and organizations which in fact have nothing to do with Eagle Forum.
Eagle Forum wants no part of money intentionally donated to these other entities, but Eagle Forum recognizes the need (and feels a duty) to ensure that its supporters have enough information to support the organization of their choosing. Eagle Forum believes that any individual or organization that asks for financial support owes a duty to be as forthcoming as possible about where that money will go and what that money will support. Intentional activities, such as obscuring or shortening the name of the organization, simply do not honor the public trust represented by every single donation.
Accordingly, please be advised that the following individuals have no connection to Eagle Forum:
ED MARTIN
JOHN SCHLAFLY
ANDY SCHLAFLY
KATHLEEN SULLIVAN
On October 20, 2016, the Circuit Court of Madison County, Illinois issued an Order suspending John Schlafly and Ed Martin from their roles as officers of Eagle Forum and ordered them to cease conducting business on behalf of Eagle Forum. The Court’s suspension was made after reviewing evidence that John Schlafly and Ed Martin had acted to harm Eagle Forum while they had a duty to protect it. Then on January 28, 2017, a lawfully convened meeting of the Eagle Forum Board of Directors voted to remove Ed Martin, John Schlafly, Andy Schlafly, and Kathleen Sullivan as directors and/or officers of Eagle Forum.
Each of these individuals were involved with creating Phyllis Schlafly’s American Eagles. These individuals established PSAE as a direct competitor of Eagle Forum, which was itself part of a larger scheme to divert and misappropriate assets and donations from Eagle Forum. These actions were undertaken while each of these individuals were still directors and/or officers of Eagle Forum and were still duty-bound to safeguard its interests.
None of these individuals speaks for Eagle Forum. They no longer conduct business on behalf of Eagle Forum. They may not represent that they are somehow connected to Eagle Forum. Any projects, meetings, events which are planned, organized or supported by these individuals has nothing to do with Eagle Forum.
Notwithstanding the Order enter by the Circuit Court of Madison County, and numerous demand letters and motions for contempt regarding the same, Ed Martin still continues to hold himself out to the world as a representative of Eagle Forum. In addition to being a violation of a court order, this conduct is downright dishonest and seems tactically designed to create confusion and otherwise disrupt the operations of Eagle Forum. Eagle Forum is taking every measure possible through the courts system to stop Ed Martin and protect the name Eagle Forum. However, as we await relief from the courts, it is important that Eagles not be misled! Eagles should understand that when they see Ed Martin on cable news shows, he does not speak for Eagle Forum; his thoughts and opinions are his own and in no way reflect the position or mission of Eagle Forum.
Please also be advised that the following entities are separate and distinct from Eagle Forum:
EAGLE TRUST FUND
EAGLE FORUM EDUCATION AND LEGAL DEFENSE FUND
PHYLLIS SCHLAFLY’S AMERICAN EAGLES
PHYLLIS SCHLAFLY EAGLES (sometimes called PS EAGLES)
Likewise, these entities do not speak for Eagle Forum. They cannot conduct business on behalf of Eagle Forum. They cannot suggest or represent that they are somehow connected to Eagle Forum. Any projects, meetings, events and publications that are planned, organized or supported by these entities have nothing to do with Eagle Forum.
Because Eagles have the right to knowingly support any organization of their choosing, Eagle Forum will always clearly state that its mailers are from Eagle Forum and that its events support the mission of Eagle Forum. Be assured that donations to Eagle Forum will be used to advance the causes of Eagle Forum. Eagle Forum believes that any individual or organization that gives you less than full and frank disclosure has already proven they cannot be trusted with your support. Our conservative leaders in Washington, D.C. need an active and vibrant Eagle Forum to help guide the future of the conservative movement. This moment in history is far too important to waste support on individuals or organizations with something to hide.
