The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security have issued an unspecific terror warning as violence rages across the Middle East in response to an anti-Islamic movie “trailer” that appeared on Youtube.
The intelligence bulletin warns that “the risk of violence could increase both at home and abroad as the film continues to gain attention” due largely to sensationalistic corporate media coverage.
Despite a lack of details or the lack of a credible threat, the bulletin said “violent extremist groups in the United States could exploit anger over the film to advance their recruitment efforts.”
The short video appears to be “a contrived fraud designed to stir up unrest in the Middle East while shielding the true reasons behind the murder of Ambassador Chris Stevens,” Paul Joseph Watson wrote for Infowar.com on Thursday.
“Everything about the movie suggests it was a contrived fraud to artificially manufacture unrest in the middle east at a time where speculation that the U.S. and Israel are about to launch military interventions in Iran and Syria is rife,” Watson notes.
Others have suggested the video was produced by the Israeli Mossad, the CIA or other intelligence agencies.
“First responders should remain aware of the potential for spontaneous large crowds and protests that could overwhelm resources and should be vigilant for possible efforts to encourage peaceful protesters to commit acts of violence,” the FBI-DHS bulletin said, according to ABC.
In late August, the FBI issue a bulletin to law enforcement warning that “anarchist extremists” would use IEDs at the Republican and Democrat national conventions.
“FBI and DHS assess with high confidence anarchist extremists will target… infrastructure in Tampa and Charlotte, with potentially significant impacts on public safety and transportation,” CNN reported.
Despite the “high confidence” of the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security, no IED attacks occurred ruing either convention.
“Despite a lack of details or the lack of a credible threat…” – There you go – fear-mongering by the FBI and DHS. Makes you wonder if they have something up their sleeves.
Terror attack in response to a video? The fact that the US is illegally waging war in at least seven Muslim countries might also serve as a rationale for revenge.
