Hostages Held by Gunman in Sydney Cafe: May be a Terrorist Attack
Distressed Lindt cafe workers and customers were seen pressed up against the glass at Martin Place Lindt Cafe
Five hostages have emerged from a popular cafe in Martin Place, Sydney, Australia, as a gunman holds up to thirty others. It is not known if the staff member and two customers were released or escaped. The hostages are presently being interviewed by police.

Police have spoken directly to the gunman, his motives are unknown at this point.
Staff members could be seen holding their hands at the windows, with some holding up a black and white flag, believed to be the Black Standard, a flag jihadists and Islamists display.
It has not been confirmed if it is a terrorist attack, but police say they have “moved to a footing consistent with a terrorism event” in their response.
