Multiple online media outlets began sharing a tweet purportedly published by an ISIS-associated account just prior to the shooting.
Within hours of a deadly shooting spree in Chattanooga, Tenn., authorities announced the suspect was among the dead as speculation began to grow regarding his possible motive. Reports indicate the suspect, Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez, first opened fire at a Navy recruitment center and was fatally shot when he began shooting outside of another military building a short distance away.
Witnesses say he drove up to both locations in a Ford Mustang, armed with a “high-powered” firearm, and began shooting.
Multiple online media outlets began sharing a tweet purportedly published by an ISIS-associated account just prior to the shooting. Some have speculated that the time stamp on the tweet was manipulated after the fact to make it appear to have been a prediction rather than a reaction.
Mentioning Chattanooga specifically, the post declared “American Dogs” would “see wonders[.]”
According to The Gateway Pundit, the same account also posted threatening messages targeting the capital cities of Germany and the Netherlands.
Western Journalism was able to capture a screenshot of the first tweet. Upon attempting to access the second, however, a message appeared indicating the account was suspended.
