The Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) is one of America’s most corrupt departments. Its agents have been arrested for everything from drug trafficking to extortion, money laundering and obstruction of justice. DEA agents have even been caught hosting “sex parties” equipped with prostitutes hired by Mexican drug cartels.(1)

The latest scandal involves a top Texas DEA agent whose teenage daughter was recently busted for the crime he’s devoted his life to fighting: drug trafficking. Bill Furay, a 20-year veteran of the DEA, has spent a significant portion of his career hunting drug traffickers, some with ties to Mexican cartels.

Furay was largely involved in “Operation Agent Orange,” a sting that dismantled a large drug operation in Houston and the surrounding area.

Innocent-looking DEA agent’s daughter busted with huge stash of drugs and money

But while Furay was out trying to remove drugs from America’s streets, his 19-year-old daughter was on her way to becoming a high-rolling drug dealer. Sarah Furay, a college student, was arrested for selling drugs after police discovered a stash of cash and a sizable amount of illegal narcotics in her College Station apartment.

On November 6, Sarah Furay was found to be in possession of more than 31 grams of “packaged cocaine,” 126 grams of “high-grade” pot, 29 “ecstasy” tablets, meth and 60 doses of a drug similar to LSD, according to WFAA.(2)

“In a statement released to KAGS HD News, the agency’s public affairs officer, Barbara Carreno said, ‘the DEA confirmed that Sarah Furay, the daughter of DEA Special Agent Bill Furay, was arrested in College Station, TX on charges related to drug trafficking. The College Station Police Department is handling all investigative matters related to the charges. The Furay family is dealing with this private matter as best they can.’”

The DEA agent declined to comment on his daughter’s arrest, but told reporters it was a “personal matter.” Furay is currently working as the agency’s diplomatic attaché at the U.S. Ambassador’s office in Panama City, Panama, reports Death and Taxes.

World’s ‘most adorable drug kingpin’

As if having his daughter arrested for drug trafficking wasn’t embarrassing enough, Sarah Furay’s mugshot went viral after blogs discovered her smiling ear-to-ear following her arrest, even earning her the nickname of the world’s most “adorable drug kingpin.”

Sarah Furay is facing at least three felony charges “for the manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance and drug possession,” the Daily Mail is reporting. She was booked into the Brazos Detention Center on Nov. 6, before posting a $39,000 bond the following day.(3)

While under her current charges Sarah Furay could technically face up to 215 years in prison and a $30,000 fine, some suspect her punishment will be far less severe due her father’s position with the DEA.

Will daughter of DEA agent get off easy?

“Furay’s mother, Shawn Creswell, is principal of Coulson Tough Elementary School in the Woodlands, Texas,” reports Death and Taxes. “She has been a school educator for 20 years, the past 15 of which have been served in greater Houston’s Conroe Independent School District.(4)

“Sarah Furay’s parents are divorced (Creswell has since remarried), but having a mom and dad with well-established positions within departments of law enforcement and education certainly doesn’t hurt when it comes to getting your drug-dealing ass out of jail.

“Having a mother with strong ties to the community and as a school administrator gives Furay’s attorney the opportunity to argue their client as a low-flight risk. As for dear ol’ dad’s vocation, by no means are we suggesting this is some kind of family business or that any corruption is connected to this particular case. The city of Houston has long been described as a hub for the distribution of illegal narcotics, pharmaceuticals and controlled substances, much thanks to drug traffickers and a convenient five-hour drive from the border. And College Station is a 90-minute drive from Houston.”
