POWERBALL TICKETS SEIZED AT U.S. Border!!! IMMORAL ARTICLES???
A little known law is being strictly enforced now that the Powerball jackpot has risen to $ 1. 4 billion.
“All persons are prohibited from importing into the U.S. from any foreign country any lottery ticket, or printed paper that may be used as a lottery ticket, or any advertisement of any lottery.”
So if a Canadian or Mexican citizen [or any other country] purchases a ticket and returns home with it, discovers it is a winning ticket and returns to the U.S. to claim the prize, the individual will be in violation of U.S. law forbidding importing “immoral articles” and will NOT BE ABLE TO COLLECT THE JACKPOT!!!
According to Jana Jones, the director of legal services at Washington’s lottery ” The Washington border patrol are permitted to seize Powerball tickets, including Jackpot winning ticket from Canadians!”
IMMORAL ARTICLES???
Then why are we selling lottery tickets in the first place?
TAXES!!!
Wonder who is monitoring those sezed tickets and will the government then be able to claim the entire jackpot???
