Where To Go If You’re Skipping Christmas
With all the craziness of Christmas, you’ve probably thought about pulling a Christmas With The Kranks and skipping Christmas. But, if you were to do it, where would you go? Here are some of the top places to go if you are actually going to take the plunge and skip Christmas this year.
Portland, Oregon
There’s a lot to do in this town, even during the winter. There are a number of craft breweries to visit if you’d like to try a new beer. Portland is also known for its Theater Pubs. Here you can watch a movie while enjoying traditional pub foods all at the same time.
Reykjavik, Iceland
One of the best things about visiting Iceland this time of year is the Northern Lights. Now until the early spring you have a great chance of seeing these fireworks put on by nature. In addition to the aurora borealis, there are plenty of other things to do. You can go on a helicopter ride over the city, see some of the sights like Hallgrimskirkja or go on a whale watching tour.
Las Vegas
This is one of the most popular destinations for those that will be skipping Christmas. Las Vegas is a treasure trove of exciting things to do. Not only can you do a little bit of gambling, but there’s countless shows you can watch as well. If neither of these are simply your thing, go kayaking down the Hoover Dam or visit the 18b Arts District.
Bermuda
The entire island of Bermuda is a great place to visit in December. The average temperature is around 65 which makes it a great place to go if you want to spend time outdoors. There’s plenty of pink sand to walk on and seaside trails like those found in Hog Bay Park. Another incentive to skip Christmas and go to Bermuda is that it’s their offseason so you can typically find low airfare and hotel rates.
Belize
You really can’t go wrong by visiting Belize in the winter. It’s a great destination for watersports like snorkeling. If you are an animal lover, both the Belize Zoo and Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary are worth the visit. Ambergris Caye is a great destination with its Mayan Centres and wildlife refuges. There are also a lot of specialty stores to browse around in or pick up an item or two.
