With the holidays upon us, not many people are thinking about taking a vacation. However, if you do have time to do so, there are many great cities and countries to visit that will allow you some time to recharge before you make the trek to grandma’s house for a big dinner or exchanging gifts.
Belize
Rates tend to be fairly low in Belize at this time of year. This country can see a lot of tourists most of the time, but during the next several months it can die down a little. There are many things to do in Belize including taking a tour, visiting one of the many beaches, exploring a Mayan temple or going horseback riding. Despite the fact that Belize is relatively small, there’s still a lot to do.
Sicily
There really is no bad time to visit Sicily. However, November and December tend to be the city’s slow season, so you won’t have to deal with large crowds. While there, visit one of the vineyards in the Mount Etna region, go for a stroll along the coast or see some of the Greek ruins.
San Miguel de Allende
This is a great place to visit year round, but it can get hot and unbearable if you aren’t used to the weather. The months of November and December are a particularly pleasant time to visit San Miguel de Allende as it’s fairly breezy which makes walking around very pleasant. This area is full of many bars and restaurants and it’s just overall a great place to wander around and see the Spanish architecture and rather big art scene.
Canada
While it can be very cold in Canada during the winter months, it doesn’t stop tourists from wanting to visit the country. Since it is slower than other months, rates tend to be low and you can easily get restaurant reservations. While there, visit St. Lawrence Market, the Aga Khan Museum or Grouse Mountain. A popular reason why tourists visit Canada in the months of November and December are the Christmas markets. Here you can find a variety of homemade items and delicious foods. Popular markets to visit include markets in Vancouver, Quebec City and Toronto. Just don’t forget to pack a parka or some long johns so you don’t freeze while walking around checking out all of the different stalls.
