The liberal editor of Mother Jones made a fool of herself this week with a unique opinion on Donald Trump’s Syria strikes.
In a tweet, Clara Jeffery said, “That the missiles are called tomahawks must enrage a lot of Native Americans.”
National Review editor Jonah Goldberg pointed out that the missiles were actually named in “tribute” to Native Americans.
Conservative writer Ben Shapiro of the Daily Wire said he was willing to make a trade: “If Native Americans want to rename Tomahawk missiles, I am happy to offer to rename them Hebrew Hammers on behalf of the Jews.”
It’s too pat to say this is the REASON that Trump won in 2016, but there’s no doubt it had something to do with it. Americans have had it up to here with this left-wing PC nonsense that says that everything is offensive and racist and sexist and xenophobic and so forth. Trump was the best antidote to that venom to come along in years, and he landed in the political arena at the perfect time. Unfortunately, the political correctness he opposed so forcefully continues to infect our culture throughout the first months of his presidency.
There’s nothing to indicate that a significant number of Native Americans are upset about the name of these missiles, and even if they were, is that really relevant to the current discussion? It’s not like Trump was offered a choice: Mr. President, we have two options when it comes to bombing the Syrian airbase. We can either use our Tomahawk cruise missiles…or we can use our brand new White Privilege missiles that draw attention to the plight of minority oppression. What say you? He didn’t name the damn missiles, so what point is Jeffery trying to make?
But then, who is the fool – the liberal editor of Mother Jones or us for trying to find a logical reason for something the liberal editor of Mother Jones tweeted? She didn’t need a reason. These liberals know only one thing: Oppose Republicans and anything Republicans do. And that goes double if the Republican in question is named Donald Trump. So sure, why not turn the Syria strike into a commentary on Native American genocide? It’s an excuse to attack Trump AND disparage the evil history of the United States. Two birds with one stone.
