That’s an expensive cartridge to shoot! I’d much rather .223 for a SHTF general weapon. Not only is the ammo in greater supply (even after the SHTF), but it’s far cheaper to stock up on in the meantime. I’d say stick with either the trusty Kalashnikov variant with 7.62x39mm or the M4/M16-A4 with the 5.56 and not only for ammo considerations, but also for parts. Of course, what’s even better than these trusty weapons, is a black-powder revolver, as you can make your own ammo, though having an assault weapon by your side just gives you the much needed peace-of-mind in order to stay focused on what matters most -your family.

You are factually incorrect. According to this survey, the US is 12th in gun related deaths.

If the federal and state governments ended the war on drugs, the death rate from guns would drop significantly. If the federal government didn’t rig the economy in favor of big corporations, then there wouldn’t be so much poverty, and poverty is a major source of crime, including gun crime.
