The Syrian National Army stormed Al-Tal and was able to safely release the journalists captured by the Free Syrian Army. The assistant cameraman Hatem Abu Yehya had been executed five days earlier. During the operation, several Contra leaders were killed, including Maher Ismail al-Tahhan, Yasser Sharif al-Ahmar and Mouafaq Ismail al-Taleb.
