(Before It's News)

Do you consider yourself an innovator when it comes to nuclear arms control? Do you want the chance to win an Apple iPad 2? Then perhaps you should check out the recently announced International Arms Control Essay Contest: Innovation through Open Source Technologies.

The contest is sponsored by the Bureau of Arms Control, Verification, and Compliance at the U.S. Department of State, the Center for Policy Studies in Russia, and the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies. Submissions are being accepted now through January 31, 2013.

Judges are requesting your original ideas “addressing the topic of international application of open source information and communication technologies (ICT) to arms control verification, compliance monitoring, and monitoring of sensitive facilities.” Essays must be between 1,000 and 2,500 words and include proper citations of any referenced sources.

Full details of the contest can be found by visiting the Center for Nonproliferation Studies’ website here.

Best of luck!
