The Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) is reporting today that the sudden massive war drills ordered yesterday by President Putin were in “direct response” to multiple issues currently facing the Federation—with the two most critical of them being a feared invasion of Syria by Turkish led forces, and the “intensive threat” of a massive tsunami “event” occurring in the Pacific Ocean region somewhere between the Kamchatka Peninsula and the North-western American-Canadian coastlines.
Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu in his orders to the commanders of the Southern Military District (SMD) regarding President Putin’s order, this report says, stressed the need of these generals to be able to deploy their forces up to 3,000 kilometres (1,860 miles) at their “speediest”—which would enable them to reach both theLevant War Zone and Eastern Military District (EMD) should they be needed for either direct combat, or rescue defence.
