(Before It's News)

It starts to be the moment of the day that church bells are starting to ring here all over Helsinki while I´m sitting on computer and writing this article. Churches across the world are now joining Kallio church in Helsinki by ringing their bells daily to commemorate civilians killed in Syrian Aleppo. On October 12 activist Olli Siren requested Kallio church priest Teemu Laajasalo to ring church bells for Aleppo. The priest asked few local churches to join the campaign.

Soon hundreds of churches nationwide and across Europe joined in. The Church of Finland set up a “Bells for Aleppo” website. According to the site, more than 500 churches from 20 countries, including Britain, United States and Australia, have signed up. The bells will continue to ring daily until October 24, the United Nations Day.

“We all see the devastating events in Aleppo, but at the same time feel powerless to help. We want to make our voices heard, and give hope for better future,” Laajasalo says and continue: ´The sound of the bells doesn´t cover all the noise of the world, but are the prayer for the hope, ”once everything will be different”.
Last time that churches around Finland joined to ring bells at the funeral of Finland’s former president Urho Kekkonen in 1986.

How the Finnish churches, politicians and main stream media see the situation in Aleppo seems to be very much blaming Russia to be the main culprit. I´m actually surprised about the constant propaganda against Russia in Finnish TV, while the alternative media expresses quite opposite.
But not so much fear about war with Russia or nuclear war. I think people commonly understand that there are too many forces against using nuclear weapons, that it is not going to be happen. Personally I think the ETs have prevented it so many times, so nuclear war is never going to be allowed.

  • My greetings. Nice to be here in Finland, many more interesting things going on. Finnish right wing Nazist SVL and joint leftists-immigration movement having constant battles.

    • Fkkk the churches w/ their bells for bullies melodrama. and Yes YOU are the Bullies- and hypocrites beyond belief. Instead of banging your bells?
Western ‘Xtians’ s should get your asses to PARLIAMENT and DEMAND your taxes stop funding NATO’s training of ISIS, Nusrah, Qaeda and the “moderate” death squads that burn people alive, crucity kids and behead old women. No death squads to regime change Assad?
Then Assad wont need to hit back to defend his govt from them.
God sees what you are and what you do, and curses on you, you merchants of Satan.

      • I´m just reporting as I´m here in Finland. I feel quite the same churches are often blaming the wrong side as most of the people do, due to simply lack of time to find out deeper truths and perhaps dogmatic thinking. But I do apprediciate that churchers are also joining to alarm about wars.

I just attended yesterday in Helsinki a peace march, save Syria and I can see that more people are nowadays concerned about the world afairs than before, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qRUVJGSt_4
