With no permission from Syria, the US increased US military forces in Syria and is setting up an air force base in the Northern regions of Syria. The mainstream media and the UN has been nearly silent on this issue. No one knows excatly who the US is fighting, or if these forces will be used to fight against the Assad government. The pretext is that the US is fighting against ISIS, in concert with Syria, Kurdish and Turkish forces. However, it much more complex than that. The Kurds, called the YPG, are in a death struggle against Turkey. Turkey is in Syria illegally as well as the US. Russia is the only foreign nation officially allowed into Syria. The Turkish army is mostly figting agaisnt the Kurds, with token attacks on ISIS at times. The US for several years now has been arming, funding and supporting rebel forces(with connections to ISIS) that are fighting against the Syrian government . It is unclear if that alliance with the rebels has ended or is still on going. The public is led to assume that the US is there to fight against ISIS, which is actually a 180 degree reversal from what has been going on the past few years. The first casualty in war is the truth, so we still don’t have a clear view what is going on and what will transpire next. George Eaton
