Ten-years ago we saw many images depicting some of the torture that took place at Abu Ghraib when those abuses where made public by reports published in late 2003 by Amnesty International and the Associated Press. Today, a federal judge in NY is weighing whether or not to allow the release of hundreds, if not thousands, more of previously withheld images of torture practices on detainees elsewhere in Iraq and Afghanistan.
According to the Daily Beast,
Some photos show American troops posing with corpses; others depict U.S. forces holding guns to people’s heads or simulating forced sodomization. All of them could be released to the public, depending on how a federal judge in New York rules—and how hard the government fights to appeal. The government has a Friday deadline to submit to that judge its evidence for why it thinks each individual photograph should continue to be kept hidden away.
The photographs are part of a collection of thousands of images from 203 investigations into detainee abuse in Iraq and Afghanistan …
While the Bush administration created the controversial torture program, the Obama adminstration has fought to keep the trove of images in the dark. Will they finally see the light of day? Will there be ‘backlash’ as the Govt. warns? Is there something productive that can come from the release of these photographs?

Beheading liittle girls and boys, raping women 30,40 50 times a day. THAT’S torture. And, if it meant keeping some animal from doing that to YOU or YOUR child,I would do it MYSELF!!
