 Wannabe A Brain Surgeon?

What are you really in for besides about 20 more years in school?

“I strive to make as much as possible enjoyable and educational at the same time” - Amy Santee, US Educator

  • Did you know that MIT, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology offers free lecture notes, exams, and videos with no registration required?

A brain surgeon must study for a minimum of fourteen years before he or she is actually allowed to perform surgery on a patient. The extensive schooling consists of four years of pre-medical study, and four additional years studying for a medical degree. Once the medical degree is obtained, doctors are required to undergo six years of residency.

Many prospective brain surgeons take on an additional two-year masters degree once their residency is complete. Others many follow their residency with a subspecialty fellowship, so it is not uncommon for a brain surgeon to have twenty years of post-secondary education.

Once all educational requirements are complete, a brain surgeon must become board certified in neurosurgery. This involves taking a rigorous professional examination. They must also be able to pass a licensing exam in their jurisdiction to legally practice as a surgeon.

Wannabe… A Master Chef”?

Cordon Bleu…

                          Or Cordon Noire?

Everyone going into this field has heard of ‘Condon Bleu’, but how many of you have heard of the one level above that,  CORDON NOIRE!

Master chefs are near the top of the profession. They would be either head chef or executive chef and might not even be cooking as a job. But they would be one of the best in their speciality, either in their country or in the world.

Executive chef spends most of the time, either doing management side of things, writing menu’s or food ordering. They spend a little time in the kitchen. Their orders come first.
Head Chef will be either the main chef if there is no executive chef or the main chef in the kitchen. if the executive chef is not there, the head chef will be in charge. Does spend some time out of kitchen too.
Sous chef means second in charge. When the head chef isn’t there and there isn’t a executive chef, the sous chef is in charge.
The master chef is in charge of all chefs…

One traditional method of getting rid of pesky people is poisoning their food – and those evil people must be stopped!

iWannabe….

            … a forensic scientist.

“Let the evidence reveal the truth…”

A forensic scientist gathers physical evidence from crime scenes. He or she then analyzes that evidence to help in the investigation of the crime. Forensic scientists are sometimes called crime scene investigators or forensic science technicians.

Or sometimes ‘detectives’ depending on how good they are and who employs them: many employers prefer applicants who have at least two years of specialized training or associate degrees in applied science or science-related technology. Others prefer applicants with bachelor’s degrees in chemistry, biology, or forensic science. Career preparation is also available through two year formal training programs that combine the teaching of scientific principles and theory with practical hands-on application in a laboratory setting with up-to-date equipment.

A Sports Star?

There’s more to sport than soccer! Did you know that some sports were once illegal?

Zurkhaneh is a traditional gymnastic and Wrestling discipline in Iran, which was originally an academy of physical training for military purposes.

The Zurkhaneh itself is an octagonal pit about 1m deep with a floor of clay soil in which athletes train for Pahlevan. In contrast to gymnastics practiced in the West, the exercises consist of team sports that combine tests of physical strength and flexibility, specific rituals, and respect for traditional moral and ethical rules. The game of Pahlevan changes to keep pace with the sound of a drum played by the morshed or guide, who is typically seated in an elevated position within the hall.

iWANNABE… A JOURNALIST?

In a paperless blogworld, what’s it really take?

Journalism is, in most respects, the backbone of the media industry. Therefore many media jobs require some aspect of journalism. The type of writing a journalist does depends largely on the subject they cover. Another thing which affects a journalist’s job is the outlet they produce news for: TV, the Internet, a newspaper, etc.

That being said, a “traditional” journalist reports the news. What does that mean? Well it can mean various things. The standard image of a journalist, and one often portrayed in movies, is of someone working a beat for a newspaper and finding stories. Which begs the question: What is a beat?

… a Permaculturist…

You’ll have to get your hands ‘dirty’ and love worms – And the outdoors! And wind and rain and bugs and work and fun and getting into the philosophy of the world feeding the world, going back to the commons, the Garden of Eden.

“Permaculture comes from the combination of permanent agriculture and permanent culture. Permaculture is actually an approach in designing human settlements and perennial agri systems that copies relationships found in the natural ecologies. It is a design system for sustainable living and in all aspect of human endeavour. It is a unique green career that leads into what is emerging today as ecovillages and ecocities, a return to the ancient Commons and the even more ancient Garden of Eden.

What makes it different from: organic gardening? organic farming? sustainable agriculture? Ecological agriculture? bio-dynamic farming? regeneration farming? forest gardening? Holistic Resource Management HRM? ecosystem restoration? sustainability? or natural building?

Permaculture is unique, yet at the same time includes all of the above. Permaculture is the design of sustainable human settlement. One of the most important things about Permaculture is that is a synthesis of agriculture, ecology, and forestry. Permaculture is inter-disciplinary, knows no language or religious differences except in how the Master Chef prepares the food…

An International Facilitator…

Are you the kind of person who can find anything anywhere and get hold of it before anyone else?

Do you know enough about money and business to gain financial control over another corporation or financial institution through a payment in cash or an exchange of stock or any other kind of leverage?

Could you learn how the credit card sytem works?

It’s really simple if you know how: the retailer passes the card through his POS terminal which then dials up the acquirer for an authorisation. The acquirer routes the authorisation request to the appropriate Scheme who in turn routes it to the appropriate issuer, in this case your Card Issuer. The card issuer checks your card number against the database for available funds and finding there are enough funds available passes a unique authorisation number back to the Scheme computer. The card issuer also reduces the available funds on your account. Note the money may have gone as far as you are concerned for payments, but not for interest calculation and certainly not out of the card issuer’s bank account yet. The Scheme routes the authorisation request back to the acquirer computer who in turn routes it to the appropriate POS terminal. This all happens in seconds without human intervention.

It’s an interesting occupation. A little complicated, so maybe brain surgery is a better choice… but good luck!

EXAMPLES:

Unusual Job #1: Ice Cream Taster

John Harrison has the most delicious job in the business. As Official Ice Cream Taster for Dreyers Ice Cream (not to be confused with Breyers), John gets paid to sample three cartons of each flavor daily to check product quality. He claims the gig isn’t all fun and games since he must maintain a strict, spice-free diet; however, being surrounded by Rocky Road sounds like a sweet deal nonetheless.

Unusual Job #2: Hair Simulation Supervisor

Believe it or not, those proficient in the art of creating 3-D hair are hot commodities in the world of animation. Just ask Mark Thomas Henne, the man responsible for every follicle flip in Pixar’s CGI blockbuster, ‘The Incredibles.’ According to Nathan Pieratt, Director of the Online Animation Program at Westwood College, the industry has shifted from 2-D design to 3-D digital media, giving rise to highly specific jobs. “This industry is huge,” Pieratt says. “Students are blown away by how hard it is and how exciting it is, too.”

Unusual Job #3: Palliative Care Technician

A cross between M.D.s and hospice workers, palliative care technicians ameliorate symptoms, but don’t cure disease for terminally ill patients. On top of medical training, technicians must be prepared to handle the legal, psychological, and ethical issues associated with death. Online courses like the End of Life Issues Program at the University of South Florida provide medical professionals with background to help patients and families cope with grief.

Unusual Job #4: Banana Gasser

Less flatulent than it sounds, banana gassers finish off what Mother Nature started. To make sure the bottom of your split is tasty, bananas are shipped while they’re still green to prevent bruising. Gassers for the JFC Fruit Company are in charge of moving new shipments into hermetically sealed chambers where the fruit is sprayed with an ethylene gas to catalyze ripening. According to the company Web site, trained gassers use the computer program “Probe” to determine how much gas should be applied and for how long. The process can take anywhere from three to eight days, after which bananas hit grocery store shelves yellow and ready to be eaten. Bon appetite!
