In astronomy, the Great Rift (sometimes called the Dark Side, Dark Rift, or, less commonly, Dark River) is a series of overlapping, non-luminous, molecular dust clouds that are located between theSolar System and the Sagittarius Arm of the Milky Way Galaxy at a distance of about 100 parsecs or about 300 light years (2×1015 miles or 3×1015 kilometers) from Earth. The clouds are estimated to contain about 1 million solar masses of plasma and dust.[1]
Through the Dark Rift. The Galactic Plane at the center of the milky way, is a subject of great controversy, will the Earth pass through this plane in December 2012?..according to some, it won’t, but according to others it will. Judge for yourself. According to the Bible at the END of the AGE Matt 24, the Earth is going to experience an event that has Never Happened Before, and will (never) happen again. REV 6:12 And I saw when he opened the sixth seal, and a GREAT EARTHQUAKE occurred; and the Sun became BLACK as SACKCLOTH of hair, and the entire Moon became as BLOOD. vs 13 and the STARS of HEAVEN fell to the EARTH, as when a fig tree shaken by a HIGH WIND casts its unripe figs, vs 14 and the HEAVEN DEPARTED as a SCROLL that is being ROLLED UP, and every MOUNTAIN and every ISLAND were REMOVED from their PLACES. What would cause this?,, A pole shift, what would cause a pole shift?,,A POWERFUL MAGNETIC FIELD.
To the naked eye, the Great Rift appears as a dark lane that divides the bright band of the Milky Way lengthwise, through about one-third of its extent, and is flanked by lanes of numerous stars.[1]
Starting at the constellation of Cygnus, where it is known as the Cygnus Rift or Northern Coalsack, the Great Rift stretches to Aquila; to Ophiuchus, where it broadens out; to Sagittarius, where it obscures the Galactic Center; and finally to Centaurus. One of the most important regions it obscures is theCygnus OB2 association, a large cluster of young stars and one of the largest regions of star formation near Earth. A similar dark band can be seen in edge-on distant galaxies, such as NGC 891 in Andromeda.[2]
