(Before It's News)

Robert Steven Thomas and I carry on with our conversation about his book Intelligent Intervention: The Missing Link in the History of Human Evolution.

Russell Scott – You spend considerable time focusing on “ooparts”, out-of-place artifacts in your book Intelligent Intervention.

Out-of-place artifact (OOPArt) is a term coined by American naturalist and cryptozoologist Ivan T. Sanderson for an object of historical, archaeological, or paleontological interest found in a very unusual or seemingly impossible context that could challenge conventional historical chronology by being “too advanced” for the level of civilization that existed at the time, or showing “human presence” well before humans were supposed to exist. ~ Wikipedia

This is admittedly a fascinating subject; however the skeptic in me says these artifacts are either fakes or simply being misinterpreted… a few OOOParts here and there is hardly justification for the re-writing of history…your thoughts Robert?

Robert Steven Thomas – I both respect and share your skepticism regarding “ooparts”Russell and believe it is well justified. At the same time, I don’t think you’ll be surprised when I state there is a huge difference between what most people consider ooparts as compared with the artifacts and information I have written about in Intelligent Intervention; which each provide powerful evidence and support for the reality of a highly advanced engineering capability being put to practice in remote human pre-history.

Sanderson first began writing, publishing and making radio broadcasts on a wide range of anomalous subjects in the 1950’s & 60’s. His books and columns became very popular last century. However, a lot of water has passed under the bridge in the intervening half century. The burden of proof has become incrementally higher since that time. Subjects he wrote about like the Bermuda Triangle, Abominable Snowman and Gigantism have always piqued the curiosity of a good number of open-minded people. Entire cottage industries have grown around each of these subjects as a result … but they are not all actually “ooparts.” Sanderson also wrote about, and many others have successfully followed his lead by authoring other books (actually “anthologies”) wherein each chapter deals with a specific artifact or object which contains irregular elements that are out of place or time and can legitimately be referred to as an “oopart.”

Books of this type might be better described as occult variations of the famous Ripley’s “Believe it or Not” collections.
