A pole shift refers to the Earth’s magnetic field reversing its polarity. If a magnetic reversal occurred today, compasses would point south rather than north.
In the past 15 million years, scientists found that these shifts occurred four times every 1 million years. Though this averages out to once every 250,000 years, switches do not occur at regular intervals. During one period in the Cretaceous, polarity remained constant for as long as 30 million years, though this is believed to be an anomaly. The last pole shift took place 790,000 years ago, causing some scientists to believe that the Earth is due, while others speculate a reversal is already underway.
Dynamic processes taking place deep inside the planet generate Earth’s magnetic field. A core of molten iron surrounds the inner core of solid iron, each rotating at different rates. Their interaction, and perhaps other geophysical processes not yet understood, creates what scientists call a “hydromagnetic dynamo.” This self-perpetuating electric field acts in some ways like a gigantic bar magnet.
The Earth’s magnetic field extends into space for tens of thousands of miles from the planet’s poles. It not only protects the planet from solar radiation but plays a fundamental role in overall climate, weather patterns, and migratory habits of animals. If the poles were to reverse instantly, destruction would be global, from earthquakes and volcanic eruptions to melting of Arctic ice and vast flooding. Evidence suggests that pole shifts happen gradually, however, taking anywhere from 1,000 – 28,000 years. The last four flip-flops took about 7,000 years each.
Evidence for these shifts came unexpectedly in the 1950s while exploring seafloor spreading along the mid-Atlantic ridge. Here, molten material wells up, cools and hardens, creating new sea crust, pushing the old crust outwards. Magnetic particles or iron oxides in the lava act like tiny compass needles, aligning themselves with the magnetic field, leaving a permanent record of the Earth’s polarity at the time the crust is created. By reading the orientation of the oxides at various distances out from the point of welling, scientists can “look back in time.” What they found was striping or alternating bands — periods of reversal throughout history.

Magnetic north moves in circles. You are creating a deception by only showing a limited time period of it’s movement. Don’t be misled by average figures either. Natural events don’t take place regularly at all. For example you could calculate the average rate a volcano explodes, the time can vary randomly from a few to millions of years between.
Pix your consistently balanced and shallow aptitude appears really quite ignorant but every now and then you surprise me with an intermittent blast of depth in thought.
Alas, this isn’t one of them.
Education may remedy this.
Idk pix… there has been a lot of possible predictive programming ie subtle hints in movies, online media, etc. that would support the climate cooling dramatically in the near future. Look at “I Pet Goat II” for just one of many examples. Besides that these been a lot of mainstream reports that have come out recently that have really quieted the topic of global warming b/c now there much more evidence indicating the opposite, the earth is actually cooling. Not only that, but if look back at depictions of George Washington crossing the Delaware… The Delaware river was frozen because a volcano erupted on the other side of the world and the enormous amount of ash that spewed into the atmosphere caused a mini ice age… You can look it up. And right now, we sure do have a lot of volcanoes going active, many that have lied sleeping for many yrs, all perking up now…. Just saying, odds are we’re going to see some cooling. How cold it gets and how soon it happens, idk…

As the article says, there are magnetic pole reversals. The north pole becomes the south pole and the south pole becomes the north.
Of course, this conclusion is based on the assumption that the Earth’s axis of rotation does not change, apart from precession. Like the article says, it’s based on studying the magnetism “frozen” in place when molten rock cooled and hardened, at various times.
The reason a sudden reversal could (theoretically) hurt us is, we need the magnetic field to divert charged particles that bombard us, from the Sun. (And cosmic rays as well)
And THAT brings up Revelation 16, verses 8 and 9: “The fourth angel poured out his bowl upon the sun, and it was given to it to scorch men with fire. Men were scorched with fierce heat; and they blasphemed the name of God who has the power over these plagues.”
Without the magnetic field to divert those electrons and protons, we would have no Van Allen belts. The radiation would be hitting us.

Like “LifeIs” stated, this article is about a “Magnetic” shift not “Crustal Displacement”. These are 2 different events. If the magnetic field goes weak or even down temporarily then the sun’s radiation can blast the earth like LifeIs stated. Although this also has a potential to wreak havoc with radiation, GPS, airport runways locations etc. it is not the same as a rapid shifting of the earths crust, which is theoretically possible.
But wait. I thought the Earth was supposed to be hollow? Then what???
A hollow planet is totally unbelievable but a book about a manipulative being who, after not being able to put up with the kids any longer, shakes the Earth apart (just to scare the shit out of ‘em) before he finally loses it and kills the bad ones.

Not really. I just means the magnetic pole moved, and it has been moving round since the days of Columbus. That movement has sped up in recent years. For reasons that elude me, NASA seems
slow to keep up with it, though it has been common knowledge among surveyors for years.
Another point that I would suggest is that we need to reevaluate the old bar magnet model.
