A mandatory evacuation has been ordered for all low lying areas and along the Tangipahoa River due to the potential failure of the lake Tangipahoa Dam, also known as the Percy Quin Dam, in Southern Mississippi. Again, a mandatory evacuation has been ordered for all low lying areas and along the Tangipahoa River due to the potential failure of the lake Tangipahoa Dam, also known as the Percy Quin Dam, in Southern Mississippi.
Due to the dam failure, water levels on the Tangipahoa River near Kentwood are expected to rise to 17 feet quickly. This is a very similar level to what was experienced in 1990 and 1983. If you were impacted by the floods of 1990 or 1983, leave the area immediately for higher ground.
