SINGAPORE – As New York slowly came back to life on Wednesday after superstorm Sandy, Singaporeans Keziah Quek and Teo Mei Ann emerged to a city that was stumbling back to normality but still seemed like a disaster-movie set at times.
With the subway down, Ms Quek, 20, walked an hour through congested and chaotic streets to the advertising firm she is interning at.At the midpoint between home and office, she decided to simply walk the rest of the way despite the chilly weather and bracing wind.
When she made it to the office, there were just eight people at work.
Some turned up just to charge their phones and call their loved ones, or use the computer as their homes were hit by the power disruption.
“I also saw people sitting on the floor beside a power socket at a bank, just charging their phones,” she said. READMORHERE
