Storm warning for Gulf of Thailand; alert from Feb 5-9, 2016

The northeasterly monsoon is expected to bring rainstorm and heavy seas in Gulf of Thailand from Feb 5-9, 2016 forcing the disaster prevention and mitigation teams to be on alert in nine southern provinces.
The nine provinces are Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat, The Bangkok Post has written quoting Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department chief Chatchai Promlert .

The moderate northeast monsoon will prevail over the Gulf and the South of Thailand in the beginning. From 6th February 2016, another rather strong high pressure from China will extend to the upper Thailand, Thai Meteorological Department said.
The northeasterly monsoon is forecast to bring heavy rainfalls mainly in the Gulf of Thailand. Waves in the Gulf of Thailand have been forecast at 2-3 metres high.
