Assange backers could lose sureties, after WikiLeaks founder breached bail
Published: 7 September, 2012
BACKERS of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, including Vaughan Smith, of Marylebone’s Frontline Club, will find out next month whether they will lose the £20,000 sureties they offered when he was bailed.
The case was listed for October 3 at a hearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court this week. Mr Assange breached his bail earlier this year when he did not report to police on the day he took refuge in the Ecuadorian embassy.
The government is seeking his extradition to Sweden and he is subject of a European Arrest Warrant
