There was scattered rainfall in Missouri but conditions were still hot and dry last week. Topsoil and subsoil moisture improved slightly but are both 87 percent very short, according to the Missouri office of the National Ag Statistics Service.
Eight-seven percent of corn is at the dough stage or beyond and 64 percent is dented, both ahead of last year and the average. Nearly a fourth of the crop is mature and six percent is harvested – about three weeks ahead. Eighty-four percent of corn is in poor or very poor shape.
Eight-five percent of soybeans are blooming and beyond while 42 percent are setting pods – around a week ahead of last year and the average. As for condition, 74-percent of soybeans are in poor to very poor shape.
Ninety-nine percent of pastures remain in mostly very poor to poor condition.
