Polish farmers threaten uprising over opencast coal mine. Farmers in western Poland are warning of civil unrest if a vast coal mine and power plant are given the go-ahead, with thousands of people at risk of being forcibly relocated.

 

USDA to Allow Chickens From U.S. to Be Shipped to China for Processing and Back to U.S. for Consumption. This arrangement is especially disturbing given China’s subpar food safety record and the fact that there are no plans to station on-site USDA inspectors at Chinese plants. Also, American consumers won’t know which brands of chicken are processed in China because there’s no requirement to label it as such

 

Banned pesticides detected in India farm produce. Over 20 banned pesticides under the category of organochlorines have been found in produce in Delhi-NCR in quantities that exceed the internationally defined permissible limits, a study on 52 vegetable samples found.
