Nuyorican Productions, Jlo’s production company has been asked by MTv to pen a half-hour pilot for “Work It” – a comedy about a NYU grad who economics force back to her Texmex roots.
“Work It,” written by Grace Parra will follow the antics of Lina Molina, a former NYU student who finds herself unemployed in a difficult economy shortly after graduation; her financial strains soon force her back to her eccentric family home in suburban Texas, a world apart from her dorm life in the Big Apple.
Simon Fields and Nuyorican Prods. Manager Benny Medina will join Parra as executive producers.
“Work It” marks the fourth venture of Jlo’s production company into television. Nuyorican is currently behind truTV’s South Beach Tow Spike TV’s Big Easy Justice as well as the dramedy being written by Ugly Betty’s Silvio Horta for Fox.
