49 Headless, Nude Bodies Found on Highway in Nuevo Leon as Warning to El Chapo Guzman

Mexican authorities at an afternoon press conference lay blame on the brutal narco turf battles for the massacre that left 49 headless bodies on the highway between Reynosa and Monterrey in the state of Nuevo Leon.  The conference was headed by Attorney Adrian de la Garza and Security spokesman, Jorge Domene Zambrano, who were accompanied by Secretary of State Security of Nuevo Leon, Javier del Real Magallanes.

Zambrano confirmed that 49 headless, nude bodies were found dead on the highway near the municipality of Cadereyta. There were 43 men and six women according to the offical count released, though other reliable reports put the count executed at 68.

The bodies were found with a narco banner signed by Los Zetas issuing warnings against the Gulf Cartel, their allies the Sinaloa Cartel and El Chapo Guzman as leader of the Sinaloa cartel. It is believed that many of those killed are not native to Nuevo Leon and could be from other Mexican states or even foreign Central American migrants caught in the vicious narco turf battles.

The gruesome discovery was made when an anonymous caller called authorities asking them to investigate the highway area at 2:00 a.m.  Upon arrival authorities discovered numerous bodies laying on the highway, as well as dozens of dismembered body parts.  Other bodies and body parts were found inside trash bags thrown on the road.  Mexican authorities noted that people were tortured and their bodies butchered, therefore recognition will be difficult because everyone is missing their head.

Authorities believe the victims were killed either there or nearby since some of the bodies were still bleeding when discovered.
