Deadline recently reported Martin Sheen has closed a deal to play the father of real-life son Charlie Sheen’s character on the FX sitcom Anger Management.
Martin will reportedly play a recurring role should FX decide to pull the trigger and order an additional 90 episodes. A decision regarding the additional episodes is not expected to be made until the first 10 have aired. The 10-90 model allows for the first 10 episodes to test viewer interest and should the ratings reach an agreed upon number, the next 90 episodes will be ordered. 100 episodes is believed to be the magic number for syndication.
Things are looking good for the show, however, as the first two episodes, which ran back-to-back on June 28, averaged 5.5 million viewers, a record for a new cable TV comedy series premiere.
Anger Management is based on the 2003 Adam Sandler/Jack Nicholson movie of the same name.
