Study Finds Hate Speech On Commercial Talk Radio Could Negatively Impact Listeners’ Health
Biological Effects Occurred in Sample Irrespective of Listener’s Ethnicity, Personal Beliefs
A pilot study released by the National Hispanic Media Coalition (“NHMC”) and the UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center (“CSRC”) found that listeners subjected to hate speech targeting vulnerable groups experienced an increase in the production of a stress-related hormone that could, over time, have a significant negative impact on the listener’s health. Findings suggest that increased production of this hormone occurs regardless of listeners’ race, ethnicity, nativity, or ideological alignment with the speaker, suggesting that hate speech may harm not only its targets, but all that hear it as well.
For the study, “Using Biological Markers To Measure Stress In Listeners Of Commercial Talk Radio,” researchers collected readings of various biological data (known as “biomarkers”) from live subjects before and after they listened to a 23-minute segment of The Savage Nation, a nationally-syndicated commercial talk radio show hosted by Michael Savage. The segment was chosen due to the prevalence of hate speech targeting vulnerable groups in the clip. After analyzing changes in the biomarkers, researchers observed a statistically significant correlation between changes in clinical anxiety and the production of salivary cortisol, a hormone that when chronically elevated could potentially influence the onset or development of pathophysiological processes or diseases such as cancer or chronic inflammatory diseases. The report recommends further research with a larger sample size and a control group.
“The findings that we release today reinforce something that we have known all along – that hate speech can be harmful to the people that listen to it. While the impact of hate speech against targeted groups, such as Latinos, has always been easy to imagine, this study demonstrates that the harm is not isolated to targeted groups and that it could, in fact, even harm the physical health of those that are ideologically aligned with the haters. For years people have told us to just turn the channel if we don’t like what we’re hearing, but today we are reminded why that measure is wholly inadequate,” said Alex Nogales, NHMC’s President & CEO.
The study was conducted by researchers at the UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center with support from the National Hispanic Media Coalition through a grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.

when i am listening to wpgb “newstalk fm” over the internet, there is always a commercial i hear. it sounds like sean hannity, but he is saying “here in america, we have the right to rice,” so i don’t think it is really sean hannity. why would sean hannity be subtly suggesting that we turn our government over to the chinese?
i am very offended by this commercial. there is nothing american about the chinese government. that’s like saying there’s something masculine about femininity. oh, i’m very aware that the everyday “Strongwoman” type of wannabee would like there to be, but it’s a matter of apples and oranges. whereas the average Strongwoman lays an egg (bleeds for a penis) every month, whereas the average “Strongwoman” has her milk-faucets for the nourishment of what this egg was meant to become, whereas the average Strongwoman still needs a constitutional amendment to be protected from violence, the average man doesn’t need to be propagandized as “Strongman” simply because the term isn’t as much an oxymoron as “Strongwoman” is. simply because men do not bleed for Strongwomen as Strongwomen bleed for men. simply because reality names the average man much stronger than the average Strongwoman – no matter how strong the Strongwoman’s willpower is, it will never overcome her girly physical power.
i know that to think such a notion is taboo and forbidden nowadays, but unless we get rid of gender-based sports teams, unless we get rid of gender-based military requirements, unless we get rid of gender-based poker nights, unless we get rid of gender-based fitness centers, unless we get rid of gender-based hot dog eating competitions, the notion of gender-equality will never be realized.
no american should even consider giving his life over to the chinese. there is nothing american about the chinese government. that’s like saying there’s something self-respectful about homosexuality. i know that the everyday gay activist would like an actual sense of pride to walk hand-in-hand with homosexuality, but it’s a matter of apples and oranges. just as it is disrespectful towards any wife when her husband deserts her nightly to have an affair with their daughter’s beautiful blonde buxom babysitter, there is nothing self-respectful about any man who feels the desire to lose himself in the company of another man. a man should be as true to himself as he is to his wife – a husband should regard his wife as all the woman he needs and wants. likewise, a man should regard himself as all the man he needs and wants. if a man’s self-esteem doesn’t let him consider himself as a legitimate man, he’s always going to be searching for the man of his dreams to make him complete. that’s an esteem problem, but isn’t it convenient how “gay pride” is as popular a buzzword as “strong woman”? both buzzwords are overcompensatory propaganda to shield the inferior from feeling inferior.
no american should ever think he has the right to rice. communism is as inferior to america as women are inferior to men. as gays are inferior to straights. as negros are reliant on “affirmative action”. communism goes against everything that america IS. i-yi recommend that WPGB immediately discontinue the airing of such an offensive commercial.
